It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a former president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Bahamas, Pastor Hugh A. Roach, who died at his residence in Nassau, Bahamas on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at around 8:04 p.m. He was 85 years of age. Pastor Roach is survived by his wife of 59 years, Olga, their two children, Opal and Hubert, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Pastor Peter Kerr, president, along with his fellow officers, departmental directors, office staff, and members from throughout the Atlantic Caribbean Union territory, which encompasses The Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, would like to extend deepest condolences to his family. We continue to commit our support especially during this time of sorrow.

Pastor Roach’s ministry to the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the wider community of the Bahamas spanned over 60 years, including capacities of conference president (former Bahamas Conference), school principal/teacher (Bahamas Academy), church pastor, government chaplaincy, and community leader. He served on numerous boards of governance both religious and civic.

The family is in the process of making funeral arrangements, and we will be updating you as details are finalized.
